“Since all this is true, we ought to pay much closer attention than ever to the truths that we have heard, lest in any way we drift past [them] and slip away…How shall we escape if we neglect and refuse to pay attention to such a great salvation? For it was declared at first by the Lord [Himself], and it was confirmed to us and proved to be real and genuine by those who personally heart [Him speak]” (Heb. 2:1,3). We see here that ignoring the truth, neglecting to pay attention to the words heard, carries a heavy consequence of judgment. How long are we sitting at the feet of YAHSHUA to hear Him speak to us, to teach us, to meditate on His word? Is there too much to do the world is pulling us from YAHSHUA’S words? Martha’s attention deficits were confronted by the Lord, when He warned her, saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; There is need of only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her. Mary had made a choice to seat herself at the Lord’s feet and to listen to Him no matter how much was there to do. She was praised for having made the best choice. Our choices and decisions determine the extent of love do we have for the Word of God and the depth of our relationship with Him.
“Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You; I will meditate on Your precepts and have respect to Your ways; I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.” (Ps. 119:11,15,16). Love for God and His word, compels us to hunger and thirst for Him and His word. There will never be a spiritual hunger and a thirst when we are distracted with worldly things. They seem to satisfy the soul for a while and the word of God is set aside collecting dust. Something is always taking the place of God in our heart and mind, while the most important thing -the Word of God is doubted, and disregarded. And in the words of the Prophet Isaiah, I ask the question, “Who has believed our message? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed?” (Isa. 53:1) The message Isaiah was referring to was the message of atonement YAHSHUA was going to perform to save His people. This message still stands strong in the Word of God, however, it has been neglected by most people. “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
Coming down from the Mount of Transfiguration, YASHUA perceived a large crowd around the disciples; He then asked them, “What are you discussing with them?” One of them answered Him, “Teacher, I brought You my son, possessed with a spirit which makes him mute, and whenever it seizes him, it slams him to the ground and he foams at the mouth, and grinds his teeth and stiffens out. I told Your disciples to cast it out and they could not do it.” YAHSHUA answered them and said, “O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put you with you? Bring him to Me.” (Mark 9:14-19). The disciple’s faith was not strong enough to mix with the Word of God. Powerless, they could not perform the miracle, even when YAHSHUA had given them power to do it. The father of the child said to Him, “If You can do anything, take pity on us and help us! YAHSHUA then answered him, If you can? All things are possible to him who believes. The boy’s father cried out and said, I do believe, help my unbelief.” (Mark9:23-24). How many of us are in this situation? After praying for the sick, without results, because our faith was not mingled with the Word of God? He has provided healing for us at the cross; the stripes on His body testify it. But we are missing the ingredient that moves our mountain. James wrote, “The prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up and if he has committed sins, they will be forgive him.” (James 5:15)
“Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” Let’s arm ourselves with the shield of faith with which we will extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one (Eph. 6). Let’s stand firm in the battle field, for the victory our Savior already won. It is ours to believe and to declare, The victory belongs to the Lord!
A prayer:
Lord, we confess that our faith is weak to mingle with Your Word. Give us strength to believe with action all that You have said and promised. To You be the glory and honor in YAHSHUA’S name.
