Amazingly enough, they forgot what had just happened the day before, when YAHSHUA fed them -a multitude of over twenty thousand people. The hardness of their hearts was the way to block their minds from remembering the most vital and unusual experience they had, which should have made a difference in their lives. But unfortunately, to them YAHSHUA was just a prophet. They did not perceive Who was He that was amongst them; Who was He that turned the water into wine, Who raised the dead to life; who healed the leapers, the blind. In response to their question, YAHSHUA introduced Himself as the Bread of life; and the Son of God who had come from heaven. He said, I am this Living Bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this Bread, he will live forever, the Bread that I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh. For who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day (vs. 48, 54). This was a message of salvation explicitly revealed to the nation of Israel. YAHSHUA, was then offering Himself as a sacrifice figuratively speaking of the bread as His body and His blood, when temporarily He was going to lose His life to give them life eternal.
Sadly, the misunderstanding of the message led many of His followers to leave YAHSHUA, as the Prophet Isaiah prophesied many years before that time with a question: Who has believed our message [of that which was revealed to us]? (Isaiah 53:1). When the disciples heard this, many of them said, This is a hard and difficult and strange saying. Who can stand to hear it? Many of His disciples drew back and no longer accompanied Him. (vs.60, 66). YAHSHUA then said to the twelve, Will you also go away? He gave a chance to the twelve to make a decision in that crossroads, when many abandoned Him. “Many are called, but few are chosen.” Opportunities are given to all, but only a few will remain faithful to God. Peter, as the spokesman of the group, filled with the Holy Spirit, confessed publicly YAHSHUA to be the Savior, the Messiah, the Son of the living God! He said, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we have learned to believe and trust and we have come to know that You are the Holy One of God, the Messiah; the Son of the living God (vs.68). Peter certainly grasped the message YAHSHUA conveyed to the crowd. But in their midst, there was one who was not one of them. YAHSHUA called him the devil, He was speaking of Judas who was about to betray Him (vs.70-71).
We live in an unprecedented time in history, when the truth is no longer a virtue, but something to step on, and something not to die for. We are submerged in an ocean of lies, believing it to be truth, while the truth has been hidden from us not to wake controversies among people. Voices coming from pulpits are quiet about today’s events, because those behind them are engulfed in fear of the truth, or they have been bought out into the lies the world proclaims. Today’s big businesses we much depend on, are emissaries of evil behind their mascaraed front, hiding its reason for existence. Take for example, Walmart. Did you know that it has been used as a massive front for the hidden transport of children in human trafficking? Their true business is not what we see; it is what we do not see. Meanwhile, we fell for the lies of their cheap products coming from China and have indirectly supported them. If our Lord YAHSHUA were here, He would have condemned such practices. He would have condemned Hollywood, Disney World and the media- the great avenue to lies. YAHSHUA’S confrontation against the evil of His days was plain and direct and unfiltered. He called them brood of vipers, white washed tomb, hypocrites with authority no one can match it. He rebuked the Jews authorities saying, Why do you misunderstand what I say? It is because you are unable to hear what I am saying. You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and of all that is false (John 8:43-44).
I imagine if this were the attitude of today’s pastors, their churches would be empty, but not of the Holy Spirit. It would be empty, yes of the world’s influence and persuasion; it would be empty of lukewarm Christians, who enjoy a warm cup of tea and a comfort church pew, in defiance to the message of repentance, while their world continues in darkness and in ignorance of truth. Yes, they have left their first love in exchange for the world’s comfort. They served two masters. In the end, they loved the world and rejected the true Master. They rejected the message; they could not follow YAHSHUA, for not denying self and for not carrying their cross. Yes, “many are called, but few are chosen.” These chosen few are the ones who have taken a standard for truth even unto death. The ultimate rejection the Jewish nation demonstrated was that of rejecting YAHSHUA’S gift He offered at that occasion when the Feast of Passover was nearing.
His message is still valid today. His broken body brought us healing; His shed blood brought us salvation through forgiveness and the cleansing of our iniquities and unrighteousness. His blood covers us with perfect love that can never be matched. His blood is powerful enough to forgive the worst sinner that ever lived on earth. No limits to what His blood can do even today after almost two thousand years. His blood holds the same power and life offered to all who will say as Peter said, “To Whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we have learned to believe that You are the holy Son of God!” Will you receive this great gift offered to you even before you were born? A gift that carries volumes of eternal love, never to die? Will you receive Him today?
THINK ABOUT IT!
