Days of Elijah

The entire world is experiencing the days of Elijah today, when evil is being conceived and being given birth to wickedness, lawlessness and violence on a larger scale. As when Elijah seemed to think that he was the only righteous person in that nation, in the midst of a spiritual apostasy, chaos and confusion, God told him otherwise, when He showed him angels ready to help him. So it is today with God’s remnant in the midst of unbelievable wickedness and corruption taking over the political and spiritual worlds. God has shown many of us the activities in the heavenly sphere that are taking place to help the nations that are crying to Him for help. No, we are not alone. Those with us are more than those that are with them- the enemies.

Elijah, after great victory over the false prophets, had to hide for fear of the woman Jezebel, who promised to kill him, as a result of the deaths of her false prophets. Afraid of her, Elijah cried to God saying, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am no better than my fathers. And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts, because the Israelites have forsaken Your covenant, thrown down Your altars, and slain Your prophets with the sword. And I, I only am left and they seek my life to destroy (I Kings 19:4b, 14). In this we see the Prophet Elijah’s humanity. Tired and hungry, feeling discouraged and desiring death. God, however, didn’t let him die, but sent an angel with food to nourish him for the long walk of 40 miles ahead of him to continue with the purpose God had for him to accomplish before his departure.

Today, the world of Christianity has been divided; Christians persecuting Christians over the subject of today’s prophets, since some do not believe today’s God’s spoken words.  By electing corrupted men and women in leadership positions of government who are against morals established by the Lord, as in the sanctity of life and marriage between man and woman, a marriage made in heaven, they made the choice of neglecting God’s laws and becoming partners with evil against God. They behave as if strangers to truth they heard, for their hearts are hard. They have no visions, no prophetic dreams, for they reject and are critical of today’s prophets, with the assumption that God speaks only through the prophets of old. With bitterness and darkness of their understanding, they walk guided by their religions’ traditions, discrediting today God’s spoken words uttered by His true prophets. Tradition, is a thing that YAHSHUA spoke against in His day on earth, for they blind the understanding and keep the ears from hearing God’s words. He answered the Pharisees, who challenged Him on tradition saying, Why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? (Matt. 15:3). Shepherds who are misleading, by keeping their flock from hearing the voice of the Lord, are hirelings, not true shepherds; they do not care for the spiritual well-being of their flock.

As it were in the days of Elijah, that the nation needed a true and anointed prophet, we the church of God need Elijahs- anointed pastors, who will deny self for the love of God and his flock; a  prophet who is not afraid of warning the people as he hears from the Lord, a prophet that will not compromise his position to accommodate the world’s view, a prophet that will not give up in times of persecution, and one who will tell like it is, just as the prophet John the Baptist, who lost his head for confronting the wicked king with the truth.

The spirit of Jezebel has permeated today’s churches in many ways. It is characterized by immorality, idolatry, false teaching, false prophets, control beyond normal. All these are found in churches today.  In Revelation 2:18-29, YAHSHUA warns the church of Thyatira against Jezebel’s spirit by saying, …I have this against you: that you tolerate the woman Jezebel… The Lord used her as an example of evil in the church, and He warned the church of Thyatira against her. In today’s church, the spirit of Jezebel might not manifest itself openly in many cases, but it is visible to those who have the discerning spirit. Today’s church, in general, is sick. Her sickness of spiritual nature is deeply rooted in ignorance of the Word of God, His ways and guidance. It is sick, but it does not realize it, as a person with leprosy, whose feeling of pain is not present. So it keeps going on and many will be found left out of God’s blessings when the day will come for Him to separate the wheat from the tares.

YAHSHUA continually extends His mercy, calling the church to repentance. Ears to hear, eyes to see and heart to respond to the calling, are necessary in times when the noise of the world seems louder, crowding and obscuring the message sent. As in the days of the Prophet Elijah, when the people acknowledged God to be the only true God, and turned to Him after facing the challenge Elijah set before them, we His church, must forsake our false whatever gods in whatsoever form, to return to our true God, Who bought us with His own life, by shedding His precious blood to ransom us from eternal death in hell.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; nature hears and shudders at His voice. The voice of the Lord turns rocks over and changes the earth’s topography; the voice of the Lord creates a tsunami as the waters respond to His voice, but the voice of the Lord is also tender calling His church to their first love, when speaking to His prophets a warning before judgment falls on the people. For they are His voice today. It is of great importance to give them our undivided attention, so we do not end up like those who ignored Noah’s message and died in the fury of the flood waters.
