The shekinah glory shone in the small town of Bethlehem when the Prince of Peace came to earth in the form of man. The arrays of His glory sparkled light and exposed men for what they were: sinful and separated from the glory of God. His actions were from an evil heart, as the Bible so described it. The Light shone on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it (John 1:5). YAHSHUA, the Son of the living God was the Shekinah glory of God, Who penetrated into the deep inner part of man and no one could escape the shinning of His holiness, making them uncomfortable. Isaiah so prophesized about His coming saying, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined; for to them a Child is (was) born, to them a Son is (was) given and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9: 2,4). Paul’s writing to the Corinthians, confirmed saying, “For God who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts so as [to beam forth] the Light for the illumination of the knowledge of the majesty and glory of God as it is manifest in the Person and is revealed in the face of YAHSHUA the Messiah” (II Cor. 4:6). “And all of us, as with unveiled face, continued to behold as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; from the Lord the Spirit” (II Cor. 3:18). The shine of His presence illumines our inner being, convicting us of hidden sins. For where He is, there is light. Darkness dissipates into the light, exposing who we are. Walk while there is light, YAHSHUA said. He, as the Light, came to direct men out of darkness, although men rejected Him, choosing darkness instead. The veil remained in their minds and hearts; so, they could not be set free.
The shekinah glory of God shone brighter when on the cross, He cried, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? The work of reconciliation between God and men was taking place at that moment before His death. It was the most painful ordeal He had to go through to save men for God. In His suffering, the sun closed its eyes and for a moment, darkness ruled the land. For three hours, creation was in darkness; on the third hour His cry resounded all over “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” He was experiencing the darkness of hell He went to. Hell is the absence of light; the absence of God. Darkness rules the place, for where God is not, there is pure darkness. At that moment, it was as if God had switched all lights of the firmament for the world not to see the intense suffering of His Son. Since YAHSHUA is the Light of the world, the world had to be affected when the Light experienced the darkness of hell. “I am the Light of the world,” YAHSHUA said, “he who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is life” (John 8:12). The believer not only has His Light in himself, but life- life eternal guaranteed by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we are called sons and daughters of Light: “for you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we do not belong either to the night or to darkness. Accordingly, then, let us keep wide awake and let us be sober” (I Thess. 5:6).
YAHSHUA said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden, nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is heaven” (Matt.5:14-16). YAHSHUA is the “sun” shinning His light to the world through us. The way we live will demonstrate if He is in us or not. The Holy Spirit convicts and exposes our sins, so that the shine we reflect will speak clearly of God’s love and faithfulness. When the dark cloud of sin impedes the light from shinning His love, peace, mercy, compassion, forgiveness, our God is not exalted and praised by the world. But in our good works or deeds, YAHSHUA is acknowledged and the glory goes to Him only.
At the feet of YAHSHUA, His presence fills our soul with light, exposing the little hidden things we disregard to be sin. In truth and in faithfulness He cleanses and purifies us through the Holy Spirit’s sanctification. The old is gone, the new shines the beauty of His presence, when we are free from the chains of sin, that which holds the mind cloudy and confused, and entangled by it. “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all iniquities” (I John 1:9). Let’s then carry our light high up, exposing evil, embracing YAHSHUA’S love to pass on to all we see and mingle with. Where God is, there will be light and all will become visible. Let’s walk in the light of His presence for the glory of His name.
