We entered into covenant with Him when we agreed to follow Him. The path of the narrow road of sanctification, must be the one and only road that leads us to Him. Daily dying for self, daily carrying our cross and daily following Him is the ultimate way to meet all the requirements of the covenant. His written word is the guide to the instructions we must follow and the map that will take us to finality, when we see Him face to face. YAHSHUA has fulfilled all the requirements of the covenant. We have this earthly life time to do our part. His death and resurrection reconciled us to God; His Spirit sealed and guaranteed our salvation. His peace, He gave us. A peace that is beyond our understanding. His peace, the only peace that is rooted in Him, uplifting us from despair to forgiveness; from chaos to calmness of the soul. His peace is established as a covenant with Him, with others and with ourselves. It is part of our walk with Him. Only by agreeing with Him, can we walk with Him without failing His commandments of peace and love. To be at peace with Him and with people, is to overlook their offenses; turning to the other side of the road. Is to have the mind and thoughts of Christ, as Paul put it, “Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, it there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things” (Phil. 4:8). If any thought disturbs the mind, it constitutes health problems. If any time we dwell on things that breaks the covenant of peace, we are out of the agreement with it and vulnerable to the consequences. YAHSHUA said, “My peace, I give unto you; not as the world gives; do not let your hearts be troubled.” (John 14). A troubled heart is a heart without YAHSHUA’S peace. The fruit of the Holy Spirit, Who lives in us- His people is: joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (Gal. 5:22). Holding unto the covenant of peace, we reflect the love of God to this unloving and selfish world through the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Peace is forgiving those who hurt us every time they do; it is to overlook an offense to embrace the example YAHSHUA gave us when at the cross being crucified. “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”
The fruit of the Spirit is ours to apply unconditionally in every circumstance. Be joyous in hope, be at peace with God, yourself, and others, be patient in waiting, kind in every opportunity, with a good heart, faithful in all we do, gentle in understanding others, putting every emotion under the control of the Holy Spirit so peace will rule our heart; that peace that emanates from God, not from circumstances or success. Walking in covenant with peace, holding unto it to control our thoughts, emotions and our desires, is the sure way to be found without spot, free from fears, anxiety and worries. Peace is connected directly to God first, to others and to ourselves. It is that feeling that unites and binds all to one purpose, it is oneness of mind. The word of God instructs us to strive to live in peace with everybody… to exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace, in order that no root of resentment shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it… for we know Him Who said, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says the Lord. And again, the Lord will judge and determine and solve and settle the cause and the cases of His people (Heb. 10:30; 12: 14-15). Peace connects us to God. He is actively performing His grace on those who seek peace, because the covenant of peace is in reality God reconciling us to Himself and we reconciling with others. The Prophet Isaiah said, “You (God) will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he commits himself to You, and hopes confidently in You” (Isaiah 26:3). Perfect peace from our Lord is for those who walks with Him, listening to Him and obeying Him; for those who keep the covenant of peace, for He is our Peace. James wrote, And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement and harmony between individuals with undisturbedness in a peaceful mind free from fears] (James 3:18). We have been called to peace; it is ours to respond by actively performing our duty before God and men.
To live in peace is a choice one makes to keep the bond of love secure, forgetting our hurts and embracing forgiveness- the eraser of bitterness. For it is not about us, but about our Lord YAHSHUA, Who was and is the Source of peace. He has blessed us with His peace, to pass it around through our behavior toward others. Without peace, the fruit of the Spirit cannot be exercised. It takes peace to love, to forgive, to overlook one’s offense. Smiles are a sparkle of inner peace, because the feeling of wellbeing takes over the mind, independent of sickness or any other challenges. Peace, is the helmet of salvation in protection against all the evil powers of the devil; it is the sword of the Spirit fighting against him, who wants the control of the mind. To live in peace is the victory that will overcome the world; the light that points out to YAHSHUA’S love and forgiveness; the Way, the Truth, and Life. Choose peace my friend as part of your goal in life and experience God’s blessings.
