I Am Wonderfully Created

To think that we are but a speck of dust, fragile in every way of our life, it is amazing to know why God spent so much time with a speck of dust and valued us to the point of purchasing us with His precious blood- His own life. That’s how we are so special Him. Every aborted child is a dismantling of God’s creation and His plan for that child. It is a disregard of God’s wisdom. However, when a child dies, God receives him into heaven; all aborted babies are cared for with lots of love, love that exceeds the love of his earthly parents, who rejected them for pleasure, in some cases.  David, inspired by the Holy Spirit expresses himself beautifully, with appreciation for God’s wisdom in creating man, when he said, “I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well; my frame was not hidden from You when I was being formed in secret [and] intricately and curiously wrought in the depths of the earth [ a region of darkness and mystery].” (vs. 14,15). If only mothers who have aborted their babies realized what she was doing, was mocking God’s wisdom in the form of a substance that He framed into a human being, created for a purpose in a length of time given to all, including her baby. She took in her hands the right to kill and robed from her child the opportunity to live and enjoy life in its multifold of the wisdom of God. Not knowing, she became an enemy of God, siding with God’s and men’s enemy, including herself. Every time you look at a mirror, remember that you are God’s favorite, His handwork to bring glory to Him; special and wonderfully created.

There is much in this psalm we need to consider. This is a psalm that reflects God’s wisdom in creating man; it also reflects His love and concern embedded in His plan for us. He created man after His image and likeness; a thing that is unique to humankind. He said, “Let Us (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) make mankind in our image, after Our likeness and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, ant beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth; So, God created man in His own image. In the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Gen. 1:26-27). To no other creature that He created, had God given such honor to be created in His image and likeness. Imagine for a moment how meaningful we are to Him; It is a beautiful thing to see how His love was demonstrated on the cross, where He died, a cruel death, nailing our sins on it and defeating the devil, who caused men to fall in order to gain control of them. But our Lord, with His life, purchased us from the devil and as Paul says, “We know that our old self was nailed to the cross with Him in order that [our] body of sin might be made ineffective and inactive for evil, that we might no longer be the slaves of sin” (Rom. 6:6). David said, “How precious and weighty also are You thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would be more in number than the sand. When I awoke, I would still be with You” (vs. 17-18).

David wrote this psalm many years prior to our Lord’s redemptive sacrifice for men. This is poetic in form with a message that confirms the love of our God, and on the cross, His love was substantiated, concrete and visible for all to see and believe. A sacrifice performed once and for all. It was complete in every aspect of the Law, leaving nothing else to be done, for He fulfilled God’s demands of men’s salvation perfectly. David wrote about God’s love in many of his psalms; today, we have experienced the redemptive love of God in a way that he did not have the chance. Our God controls the Universe in power and in wisdom.  He laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be moved forever (Ps. 104: 5). “Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is God Who sits above the circle (the horizon) of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; it is He Who stretches out the heavens like curtains and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in…Lift up your eyes on high and see! Who has created these? He Who brings out their host by number and calls them all by name; through the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything” (Isa. 40:21b-22,26).  “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaim His handiwork” (Ps. 19:1)

Holding men accountable concerning God as a Creator, and clear evidences of it, Paul writes to the Romans: “His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made. So, [men] are without excuse” (Rom. 1:20). Indeed, all creation speaks loudly and clearly of His Creator.  Men, however, even though created in the image of God and for the glory of God, have rejected Him. When creating man, God shared His image with him- a speck of dust, and undeserving. His love however, never failed us. It is continuous, eternal, perfect and unconditional from the time He was creating us.

In the evolution theory, they miss the wonder of God’s creation of men as David so described in this psalm all together. “I will confess and praise You for You are fearful and wonderful and for the awful wonder of my birth! Wonderful are your works, and that my inner self knows right well!” (vs.14).

Next time we look at ourself in the mirror, let’s remember how wonderfully we were created! How precious we are in our Creator’s sight. His love is real representing His life given for us; nothing can separate us from His love!
