The Lord said, I looked, but there was no one to help; I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold, so, My own arm brought me salvation, and my wrath upheld me (Isaiah 63:5). Solomon said, Pride before a fall. We see today corruption before destruction. When the wrath of God falls on the earth, there will not be a way to escape. We have today to stand in the gap for the salvation of lost souls. We do not have to go to a mission field to do that; our mission is right here, at home. America, a country that evangelized the world, is a country spiritually dead, in need to be evangelized. America is indeed a very difficult country in its hardness toward the Gospel and in self-righteousness. There are churches on every corner, as there are banks. However, they lack the presence of the Holy Spirit; for their focus is on tradition, tradition. How could anyone emersed in religious traditions be able to fight a good fight for the sake of the Gospel? Will they be able to stand in the gap for the sake of righteousness? Spiritual insensitivity is a brother to spiritual death. A heart that does not grieve for the spiritual condition of the world, is a pump that does not work, bringing life to the body. The Lord says, I sought a man among them who should build the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none (Ezek. 22:30). The Lord said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over the abominations that are committed in the midst of it (Ezek. 9:4). God gave His children the responsibility to go and tell, to pray and intercede for the lost, to be bold, courageous, dressed in the armor of God, in preparation for the evil days, which are here. With knees bent, let’s enter our prayer room, in communion with God, in fellowship with one another, with hearts free from bitterness, in humbleness of heart, confessing our sins, the sins of our family, and of the nation, forgetting the pleasures of the world, let’s cry to the Lord the cry that will call His attention, as the Prophet Daniel did on behalf of his nation, and his people (Dan. 9). In the dedication of the temple, Solomon prayed this beautiful prayer that has been known by all today: If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land; but if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you and go and serve other gods and worship them, then will I pluck [Israel] up by the roots out of My land which I have given [them]; and this house which I have hallowed for My Name will I cast out of My sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations and this house, which was so high, shall be an astonishment to everyone passing it, and they will say, Why has the Lord done this to tis land and to this house? Then men will say, Because they forsook the Lord, the God of their fathers, Who bought them out of Egypt, and they laid hold of other gods and worshiped and served them, therefore has He brought all this evil upon them (II Chron. 7:14, 19-22).
The conditions in which God will hear our prayers are humbleness, praying, seeking the Lord with repentance, turning from wicked ways. These are the requisites to satisfy God in His holiness. The Bible says, If My people, who is called by My name implies a definite people. Not everybody qualifies, but those who are born again, born of YAHSHUA’S Spirit. These are called God’s children. God gave those His full armor to stand in the gap for righteousness. It is for His warriors to battle the forces of darkness, the principalities. Without the armor of God, we will not be able to stand against the evil one and wickedness. Paul tells us to put on the armor of God and keep it on all the time to be ready to battle in these evil days. Without intercession the world will collapse in its mud slide of corruption. It is maturing itself for the sure wrath of God that will fall on the entire earth. Judgment is the next thing happening; we almost can hear the heaven’s war drums. There is however, many people floating in their imagination, as if drunk from overnight partying, ignorant of it all. Bodies covered with tattoos, they dance to their own destruction, until too late to wake up, as were in the days of Noah. Meanwhile, we the bride of Christ remains comfortable in the pew of churches, the place for our security, not wanting to be involved or get dirty with the smelly immoral of the world. If God spared Nineveh for repenting of their evil ways and turning to God, when judgment was proclaimed against that nation, there is yet hope if we stand in the gap for their salvation.
Intercession is the vehicle in which we see God’s heart and His actions working together with us, as we carry each other’s burden. It is a way to forget our own problems to concentrate on others, as the Bible says, carrying each other’s burden, to fulfill the Law of God. The joy of seeing others being helped and freed from their problems strengthens our faith and pleases God. Intercession is a two-way communication, where our Lord and we stay connected. As a result, we experience a life-style of spiritual success. My friend, where do you stand in your relationship with God? Are you praying, interceding for righteousness, or is it not a consideration due to your busy life-style? Look around you, perceive multitude marching to eternity without God, your land being destroyed at the mercy of corruption, perceive people disengaged, hooked on the world of technology and aloof from what is happening, going straight to perdition without knowing it. For every child you see as you go about your life, know that they are fields needed to be attended to in prayer. This is one special way to stand in the gap for righteousness. If God’s people will not do it, who will? He calls His own to join Him in the battle. The fields are white for harvest, YAHSHUA said. But where are the workers? We are His warriors, in need to respond to His call to stand in the gap, facing the challenges ahead of us in order to save those who are perishing.
