Controlled by fear
What didn’t you
Remember Peter,
When you said,
I don’t know the Man?
The cock spoke against you,
As a sign prophesized
But you lied- thrice,
And afraid of men
Jesus, you denied.
The honor of knowing
The Son of God
Was thrown on the ground
Rejection unknown
To those around
When your eyes met His,
Weeping, you left the place
With bitter tears
Running down your face,
Remembering your fate.
And exchanging the sword
For a cross, where you laid
As a martyr you died
Crucified for the One
You once had denied!
Who can know
The heart of men?
A mystery, it remains
But in the eyes of God
It shows to be vain.
