We are dead unto the world, and dead unto the things of the world, although many things will touch our emotion deeply. If our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, said the psalmist, why are we looking for answers here below? Our God has given us an entrance to His presence at the expense of His own Son’s sacrifice on the cross, when He suffered the curse that was upon us and became our High Priest forever, interceding for us at all times. Help will come to us, when we learn to set our mind on Him through prayer, which is our connection to God. By the blood of His Son, we enter His courts with confidence of faith, knowing that there is nothing hard for our heavenly Father; nothing that is bigger than He is; nothing at all.
The sovereignty of God is not to be ignored concerning the things happening in this world and in our life. First of all, He is in control, He is aware, and He allows things to happen for His own purpose, even the evil for its own day of judgment. He upholds the universe by the word of His power (Heb. 1:3). Isn’t this enough for us to trust Him in our trials, believing that all is according to His purpose and for His purpose? The Prophet Jeremiah asks a question worthy of pondering: Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, if the Lord has not authorized and commanded it? (Lam. 3: 37) It is good, Jeremiah says, that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord (Lam. 3:26). Setting our mind up above and keeping it there, is true belief based on faith. The control of our mind is ours to apply, without letting it control us to the point of it robbing us of our peace, leading us to suffer physical consequences. God’s heart- His immeasurable and unconditional love, His compassion, His purposes for each of us, working all things in harmony to bring about the fulfillment of His will for the world, for this nation and for us, are written in heaven, and in the pages of His holy book- The Bible. “May Your will be done on earth, as it is done in heaven,” is a prayer that connects our will to the will of our heavenly Father. We can never go wrong praying His will over us, our family and our nation.
Keeping our eyes on the enemy’s success, leads us to frustration, discouragement and doubt. We will even doubt God’s love, and His compassion, as it is happening even now in this nation and in the world in view of all that is happening. However, there is a place where we can be victorious: it is in His presence. There, we will understand the wicked ones’ end; It is in His presence that our mind will be set above all circumstances, quietly waiting for the Lord’s deliverance and victory over the evil that has permeated this nation and the world. These distractions are tools to deviate our attention from our blessed hope, when this hope will be reality in the presence of our Savior, who is forever praised and adored. The writer of the letter to the Hebrews commands us to look away [from all that will distract] to YAHSHUA, who is the Leader and the Source of our faith and is also its Finisher. He, for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2).
Victory waits us at the end of the line, if we don’t faint. It is with certainty that it will come in God’s sovereign will. Timing is everything on His calendar. There is no delay with Him, He is never tardy to fulfill His purpose, even if it does not agree with our timing. Trying to get ahead of Him is exhausting, resulting in anxiety instead of His peace; confusion instead of understanding and a quietness of spirit. Look up, not down or horizontally, is what we are told to do, for our help will come from above, where our Savior is, not from men. The process that takes for us to get the victory is slow, but sure. Meanwhile, He will keep in perfect peace those whose mind is staying on [Him], because he commits himself to [Him], leans on [Him] and hopes confidently in [Him]. So, trust in the Lord forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock (Isaiah 26:3-4). Nothing will harm you, neither me when we are secured in His shelter of refuge. Therefore, do not fling away your fearless confidence for it carries a great and glorious compensation of reward… for still a little while, and the Coming One will come and He will not delay (Heb.10:35,37); Learn therefore, that those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favored by God… Know and understand that it is the people [who live] by faith who are sons of Abraham (Gal. 3: 9, 7). That’s the meaning of this writing: May He find us with our mind set on His promise in raining or shinning seasons of time, ready to meet Him. There is more to life which is of eternal significance than the tangible part of it, which is transitory, and earthly. And that is where our focus should be aimed. Until He comes may He find us faithful.
