Did God really say?
Was the question that
Brought man down
And the Garden of Eden
No longer was their home
In the space of time
With many years past
Another garden was created
Where God’s Son found
A refuge from the crowd
A hidden place it was until
Betrayal in the heart of Judas
Unlocked its door
For the crowd to take away
The One they were looking for
Gethsemane was the Garden
Where the serpent once again
Had come to destroy God’s plan
By tempting God’s Son
In his opportune time
In the agony of mind
He prayed to His Father
If it is possible, let this cup
Pass from Me, yet not as I will
But as You will
In sorrow to the point of death
Alone with His grief
He overcame the cunning serpent
That many years earlier
Had brought down humankind
Gethsemane, the garden of sorrow
Where the serpent will follow
Is a place of surrender
Not my will, but your will
Father be done!
Prayer
Lord, help me to endure
The temptation of the hour,
For there is a serpent
In my Gethsemane Garden!
